Hey everyone,
I’m streamlining things on my Substack, so if you notice any changes, don’t worry—you’re not getting doubled up! Same subscribers, just a smoother setup.
And the big news? I’m launching my brand-new podcast: Beyond Gender.
This is a pivotal year—things are shifting in big ways, and I want as many people as possible to be part of the conversation. As a thank-you for being part of the Gender: A Wider Lens community, I’m giving a FREE 12-month subscription to Wider Lens subscribers. You should be automatically subscribed, but if you have any issues, just let me know.
I’ve teamed up with Mia Hughes and Bret Alderman to explore what gender reveals about broader cultural shifts. Expect no-nonsense, deep-dive discussions with researchers, doctors, therapists, parents, and detransitioners.
Looking forward to sharing this with you!
How do I become a part of Genspect and a parent support group? I’m located in the US. My daughter, at 26, is not a child anymore, but she has been seduced into trans ideology and announced to us at the end of October 2024 she’d decided she’d be happiest living as a man. It’s been devastating and 4 months later my husband and I are still reeling. I found your and Sasha Ayad’s Gender:A Wider Lens” a couple weeks ago. I listened to a few, and now want to start at the beginning and progress through them all. I don’t know how to approach or relate to my adult child anymore. I love her and my heart is broken. I need a support group.
Wonderful!
I wanted to ask you if you’d read psychoanalyst, Frederick H. Bernstein’s, Lost Boys: Reflections on Psychoanalysis and Countertransference (1995), in which he writes about 5 case studies of young boys he treated in psychoanalysis. One in particular, the snow leopard, is fascinating and I often think of this case in connection to today’s teens’ escape from psychic pain through cross sex ideation.
I wrote about it in my masters thesis on countertransference. I think you’d appreciate his work in this book.
