I am now donating monthly to this amazing guy. Here is my comment:
Once upon a time, it was books that were banned. In the digital age, it's small voices in dim digital corners... and those voices aren't so much banned (sometimes they are) as they are overlooked. There is no soap box any more. The algorithms of big tech products are not designed to deliberately retrieve data from those dim corners, or to provide balance. They deliver the collective mainstream consensus - and history has shown us that this consensus can sometimes be dangerously flawed (think Nazism, repressed memories, lobotomy operations...). These algorithms are like mirrors, keeping us firmly trapped within echo chambers. We cannot query a viewpoint or lived experience that lies outside our individual capability to conceive of. Some realities must be shared if they are to become part of what we know. As a teacher-librarian, I see your work as a fundamental act of information liberation. Access and equity of information is critical to individual and collective social freedom and informed choice. Without all the facts, we are sunk. Thank you from the very bottom of my heart.
Fascinating interview I loved the simplicity and clarity of his thought process about why it matters to bring awareness to detransition and how his own experience with coming to realize his own self id of gay sexual identity could be socially influenced to such a degree that he too thought it was innate and fixed for life only to discover it wasn’t and how that mirrors social construction of so called gender identity which arguably has much more significant implications due to potential for serious medical harms from medical transition process that are irreversible
One question I thought of when he was reporting trends AI pulled from the data derived from detrans subreddit community which I hadn’t thought of before is whether this forum is also capturing those who simply desist from trans id without ever undergoing medical intervention vs those who did and so it would be helpful if it were somehow possible to differentiate those groups for statistical purposes and I’m just curious also to know if the term detrans has more than one meaning for users of that forum
I would be happy to contribute financially to getting this guy to the conference. His work is too important. People need to know about him. Would a crowd source be an option?
I can’t describe how this raw and honest expose is 💯 what I am seeing. This guy is still so young, what in the world has online porn & our so called progressive society done to this generation, the lure & capture of free will. It’s not cruel to curb this ideology..to limit exposure. This guy is turning his life around & doing something really good, so grateful. It is a really difficult & personal topic but will resonate with many many people 🙏

Donated! Thank you for making Detrans.ai Peter. You’re a very smart young man and you’ve hit the nail on the head. Thanks for interviewing him Stella.

There is only a waitlist for in person! Are you trying to get a bigger venue or is that for cancellations?
