Listen Back: 'What your teen is trying to tell you'
A conversation with the Famous Artist Birdy Rose
Hi,
This is a lovely conversation that I had recently with ‘The Famous Artist Birdy Rose’.
In this chat we discuss what culture teenagers are growing up in now, how parents are prone to the temptation to send their teenagers to a therapist or counsellor for their behaviour, often forgetting that themselves were teenagers once who behaved in a similar manner. We also discuss the importance of teenagers experiencing embarrassing or difficult moments and overcoming them in the real world amongst your peers and how this can be a part of learning to cope with life ahead.
Hope you can have a watch.
Kind Regards,
Stella
That was a nice interview. I havn't read your book yet, because it's not on Audible.ca for the moment. Can't wait. But just listening to you, Stella, on your Gender podcast, gives me a lot to ponder as a youth psychologist. Thank you so much for all that you do!
I thoroughly enjoyed this podcast, Stella and Birdy. I felt a little bit better knowing my eldest has a part-time job, continues to go to school and knows what he wants to study at University. However, even though he has close friends, he is refusing to go to his graduation prom, even with a group of friends. Anyway, you can't win all the battles!I find it confusing because I was the complete opposite, going to parties even after a break up, just to see the guy who dumped me with another girl. That ended badly! Haha! But you know, at least I went out. Glad to see I was able to comment on this particular substack.
