Nusrit Mehtab and myself had a debate on police powers after a pensioner was visited by police over a transphobic sticker on Times Radio
“It’s very much out of the realm of the police to know what is a non-crime hate incident because it's very subjective and depends on your views.”

Wow. How did we get here? We sit here as western societies and criticize abhorrent government totalitarian places in the world like China, Russia, and we have recent history like WW2 that we can learn from, and yet here we are sliding into totalitarian states, all because of this gender ideology?! This is crazy!
The people will not stand for it, I’m glad to see this news getting air time, a couple years ago it probably wouldn’t have, which tells me people are standing up and getting wise to what’s going on, and we won’t stand for it!
Taking a picture is not a hate crime, nor is writing a letter expressing different views, nor is the opinion that men should be kept out of women’s spaces. None of those are hate crimes. You’re right Stella, it is subjective and the police have majorly overstepped their authority here. Not acceptable.
Thank you for speaking about this issue. Police meddling in private actions and political or social views is a real concern. I watched your interview with Katie Herzog today, and I try to live by what she said, too, and never to slide too far down the rabbit hole. On the other end of the spectrum, it's also crucial not to ignore real red flags, and this is one of them.
It's genuinely difficult to believe that this happened, and yet it did.
