Just wanted to thank you for the video with Angus Fox — it was very good! I think you're right that we need to do away with the awful secrecy and to initiate open conversations around this topic. This cultural moment has created an atmosphere of fear, and parents have a role to play in bringing the light out again.
Unfortunately, secrecy IS an inherent part of this movement. There's an army of online trans activists and similarly confused teens ready to tell my child that my very moderate views regarding medical interventions (wait until you're at least 25, for example) mean I don't love or support her. I've seen some scary things on online Discord groups for trans teens.
Here, we've brought Gavin de Becker's books in to show what kinds of tactics predators use. I don't know if he feels able to speak out on this issue, but if he were willing, it would be very interesting to have him on Gender a Wider Lens.
