What a terrible interviewer. This guy was a TRA's dream. He interrupted Stella just as she was revealing critical data and facts that completely contradict the TRA narrative about the unquestionable virtue of children-led affirming care. You could just feel his impatience while she was trying to make the point about the life changing consequences of medicalizing that children can't possibly understand. And the way he trivialized statistics about suicide was stomach churning. Good for her for standing her ground.
Wow, what a fraught conversation. I love how he says we should respect what the child wants (preferred pronouns). Precisely where it all goes wrong & exactly what you shouldn’t do. Well done Stella for getting all points across.
Oh Stella, I am so sorry to hear this interview. I agree with Louise....what a terrible interviewer. His inpatience with you was beyond annoying. I wanted you to read him the riot act. Your patience was admirable. He just did not want to hear what you had to say because it went against his narrative!
Ooooh! Stella! I didn’t know you had a substack. Now I can tell you directly how much I appreciate you and your public-facing work. I’m 54 and just doing my Clinical training here in Australia and struggle with much of the approach being taught. You’ve been a beacon for me with you realness, deep compassion, wit, and mad Irish humour. 🙏🏽❤️🧠

Thank you for fighting the good fight, Stella!
