Just saw this with my son today. His dad asked if he wanted to go dirt biking. He kept saying maybe. I finally said it’s either yes or no It ok for it to be no, but you need to decide. It was no.
It seems like once they are teenagers and a bit older they still have a difficult time saying “no”. This becomes problematic as their “bad influencing” friends can put them in awkward and often in troublesome positions. It is difficult to navigate this once they are older & attracted to wrong group of friends. Thank you.
This is interesting I get a lot of, in a minute or I will ( but then doesn’t ) I suppose it’s trying to exert control over their own lives. I have to learn to let them get on with whatever & trust that he will make good choices. I like the idea of empowering them to say no but think that if it is something they have to do, ask for a time frame for doing whatever it is & repect them to respect their own commitment to that. What do you think ?
I’m not a rule bound mum ,I feel that I’m very laid back as is my son perhaps too much so sometimes but the, In my own time when I’m ready to attitude really pisses my off ( maybe that’s my button )
