You’ve absolutely hit the nail on the head here. Stella!

Hate to say, my youngest used to hoot in his Spanish lessons. He was very bright, and bored. (He subsequently got too marks in this GCSE class and went on to Oxbridge).

When my husband and I learned of this aberrant behaviour at parents evening, we pulled him up on it, and things improved.

There was no question of our son identifying as anything other than a bored attention seeker. I’m not suggesting that this is always the case, by any means, but I do worry about the lack of structure and modern teaching ideology.

Excellent commentary, Stella. Maybe society has to get to this point to see the damage this craziness is doing to our children.

A friend I know who works in a primary school said there’s a child in the class identifying as a zebra and being encouraged to do so. It’s child cruelty

Why don’t people see just how ridiculous this whole situation is, kids of the future have no chance of an education. Really worried for the future

I love you and your work, Stella, but I really wish you wouldn’t appear on platforms like GB News because then your unbiased, common sense message can be distorted as part of the right wing ‘oh schools are idiotic hotbeds of anti-colonialism woke rubbish’ rhetoric. This is the part I find hardest of my sons’ trans identity - that they have become caught up in vitriolic culture wars with an ‘us and them’ mentality that is utterly toxic and an anathema to intelligent discussion. GB News is part of that culture war, in my opinion. And I don’t want you to get sullied by association, Stella! I rely on you too much as a non-partisan window onto this crazy world.

When my son told us he was trans a little over a year ago, I gave the example that what if I wanted to be a dog. He said that was ridiculous and not at all the same. Crazy that now this is happening.

On a different note, I am a primary elementary teacher. I am appalled that a teacher would do this. Yes kids play horses or other animals at recess. But it is play! Where is the world’s common sense!
