My 31 yr old daughter and her 33 year old friend conducted a tongue in cheek experiment where they both did an ADHD test online. This was as result of noticing that many of their peer group had been getting diagnosed with ADHD and they became very sceptical. They both got diagnosed with ADHD at the end of the test and it advised them to seek prescription for ADHD ... likely Ritalin or equivalent. Neither of them have ADHD in any way shape or form.
I studied ADHD and found it very hard to apply it accurately to anyone. I also found that people that are specialized in the field seem to have a similar issue. The array of symptoms being vast it isn't an easy condition to diagnose I imagine.
Similarly with borderline personality which is a catch all category. I don't doubt at all these are reliable diagnoses but they remain poorly understood. The effect of methylphenidate is a good predictor of ADHD.

We should really do a mass experiment on this. It would be very enlightening

Really? That's very interesting. What's the effect of methylphenidate that we shold look out for for ADHD?
I am so with you. We really need to unpack what has happened with mental health advice over the past 20 years especially. There’s a book just in that!
I so agree. The mental health industry has badly lost its way
Stella, good advice. Somehow we need to shout your advice from the rooftops world wide!
Aww thanks
