Looking back on our conversation with Debbie Hayton from November 26, 2021, I’m struck by how candid and thought-provoking that discussion was. Debbie shared her deeply personal journey of deciding to medically transition at 44, as a father of three, and the challenges she faced along the way. We talked about her role in my film Trans Kids: It’s Time to Talk and the intense public reaction that followed.
One of the most compelling parts of the conversation was our deep dive into male sexuality, shame, and autogynephilia—topics that don’t often get the open, honest discussion they deserve. Debbie also spoke about her growing disillusionment with transgender ideology and the origins of her now well-known phrase: “Trans women are men. Get over it.”
Revisiting this episode today, it remains a striking and complex conversation, one that still sparks important dialogue about identity, ideology, and the many facets of transition.
